The business currently operates Hari Bazaar in Melonba, NSW and Candy Kulture in Hobart, Tasmania, with two additional NSW stores currently being established. The business is committed to delivering quality products, competitive pricing and an exceptional retail experience while supporting continued growth across its expanding store network.
 
About the Role:
An opportunity exists for an experienced Retail Buyer to join the business on a full-time basis. Based at the Melonba, NSW store, the successful candidate will be responsible for procurement, supplier management, inventory planning and purchasing activities across all business locations, including Candy Kulture in Tasmania and the company's expanding NSW operations.

Working closely with management and suppliers, the Retail Buyer will analyse sales performance, forecast purchasing requirements, negotiate supply arrangements and implement buying strategies to ensure product availability, profitability and operational efficiency across multiple retail stores.
This is a full-time permanent position based on a minimum 38-hour working week.
 
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Procurement and Supplier Management:
  • Source and purchase grocery, confectionery and retail products in accordance with operational requirements.
  • Negotiate pricing, supply agreements, trading terms and promotional arrangements with suppliers.
  • Develop and maintain productive relationships with local and international suppliers.
  • Monitor supplier performance, product quality and delivery schedules.
  • Identify new products and suppliers to support business growth and customer demand.
 
Inventory Planning and Sales Analysis:
  • Monitor sales trends, inventory levels and purchasing data across all store locations.
  • Forecast stock requirements based on seasonal demand, sales performance and promotional activities.
  • Maintain appropriate inventory levels while minimising excess stock and wastage.
  • Coordinate purchasing schedules to ensure consistent product availability.
  • Analyse purchasing outcomes and recommend improvements to inventory management practices.
 
Pricing, Promotions and Product Development:
  • Assist in developing pricing strategies to maintain competitiveness and profitability.
  • Support promotional campaigns and seasonal product offerings.
  • Monitor consumer trends and emerging products within the grocery and confectionery sectors.
  • Evaluate product performance and recommend additions or discontinuation of product lines.
  • Liaise with management regarding merchandising and promotional initiatives.
 
Retail Operations and Business Support:
  • Coordinate purchasing activities across existing and future retail locations.
  • Maintain purchasing records, supplier documentation and inventory reports.
  • Ensure purchasing activities align with operational budgets and business objectives.
  • Work collaboratively with store management to meet operational requirements.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives supporting business growth and operational efficiency.
 
MANDATORY REQUIREMENTS:
  • AQF Certificate IV in Retail, Business, Supply Chain, Purchasing or a related discipline, or AQF Certificate III together with at least two years of work experience
  • Demonstrated experience in retail purchasing, inventory management or procurement.
  • Experience analysing sales trends, inventory levels and purchasing requirements.
  • Strong supplier negotiation and commercial decision-making skills.
  • Sound organisational skills with the ability to manage competing priorities across multiple retail locations.
  • Proficiency using inventory management systems and Microsoft Office applications.
